The Backstory

Safeco Insurance is exploring ways to better engage with their users in the expanding digital insurance market.

Safeco understands that their customers will have a better user experience from being able to access their insurance at any time, paying off bills, and asking questions with a digital chat representative.

This study will focus on how to give users the reigns to freely access their Insurance policy online quickly. I will also determine ways to best present this information to users through responsive web design on multiple devices.

Every site should have a Responsive web design and insurance companies especially can benefit from this if their own focus is creating a digital space for their users. Giving users more ways to access their information online allows them to have a overall better experience with their insurance company and to also build trust that they will have their if something happens.

The Problem —

Users have been experiencing higher than average insurance costs in the past couple of years. Due to this users have become more aware of their policy coverage and their bills. People are logging into their accounts more frequently, but as I found during this project most users have difficulty finding the right documents or even understanding the info they need to interpret their coverage and costs.

The Solution —

A solution to this is Safeco’s Quick Access portal. This portal allows users to access their insurance policy information and documents within a few steps while they are already logged in to the Safeco site. However, in my redesign users will have the ability to quickly access their information simply by entering a limited time code. Once confirmed by phone or email users can access limited documents, billing and claims without having to fully login.
